More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I spent two semesters working at a nonprofit, and part of my job was childcare for refugee families. I was responsible for caring for about a dozen children, aged 0-9, for several hours Esch week. Here, I got comfortable thinking on my feet, problem solving, and approaching conflict with copious amounts of compassion.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love spending time outdoors, and find it a great outlet for many kids. From gardening to physical activity, the benefits can't be overstated. I am also an avid reader, and I love to read to kiddos if that's something they enjoy. Finally, I love art and creating it with children has led to some of my favorite memories!
My experience with special needs children...
At the nonprofit where I worked, many of the children were dealing with trauma, struggling with mental health, or simply terrified. Through this, I learned to adapt to their needs and help them feel comfortable. Additionally, I had mild physical limitations as a child, and spent a lot of time in physical and occupational therapy into my early teens. This has made me knowledgeable about special needs, accommodating them, and how to form relationships with children of all ability levels. I am very passionate about access and advocacy and never shy about speaking up for the kids who need it most.
Have also babysat for a nonverbal boy with autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I was babysitting a nonverbal little boy, and he needed me to get him more milk. He handed me the cup and kept pushing my leg. I asked him if he was hungry, tired, and tried many different activities before realizing he needed a drink. When I finally figured it out, there was so much exasperation in that little face! After that we picked out a movie and he promptly fell asleep.

I am CPR and First Aid certified, so your children’s safety is always my top priority.
Growing up, one of my favorite things was putting on performances and shows for my parents and their friends, so I love encouraging that same sense of imagination and confidence in the kids I care for and time to step away from the screens. I love to keep things interactive.
