A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Audra Dollar. I’m currently wrapping up my student teaching and working toward my master’s in literacy. I’ve loved being in the classroom and building relationships with students—it’s where I feel most at home! I also have experience tutoring, subbing, and working in before and after school programs, which has helped me support learners in lots of different ways. When I’m not teaching, you can find me hanging out with my two dogs, Reggie and Miles, or getting lost in a good book. I’m passionate about helping students grow, especially when it comes to reading and social studies, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In addition to my student teaching and tutoring experience, I’ve had several roles that involved caring for and supporting children. From ages 16 to 21, I worked in a before and after school program where I helped with homework, planned activities, and built strong relationships with students and families. I’m also a certified substitute teacher and have stepped into classrooms across grade levels, adapting quickly and ensuring students felt safe, supported, and engaged. On top of that, I’ve been babysitting since I was 12—looking after my cousins and family friends' children—which helped me develop patience, responsibility, and a natural comfort around kids from an early age. These experiences have strengthened my classroom management skills and deepened my passion for working with children in both academic and caregiving settings.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love engaging kids in activities that spark their creativity, curiosity, and confidence. Some of my favorites include reading stories together, doing hands-on crafts, playing educational games, and exploring nature. I also enjoy helping kids with puzzles, building with blocks or LEGOs, and leading simple science experiments or fun themed days. Whether it’s organizing a group game, having a dance party, or just sitting down to color and chat, I enjoy finding ways to make every moment fun, meaningful, and developmentally supportive.

The most important part about being a nanny is building a trusting, nurturing relationship with both the children and their family. It’s about creating a safe, consistent environment where kids feel comfortable to learn, grow, and just be themselves. Being dependable, patient, and genuinely invested in their well-being matters just as much as keeping them entertained or on schedule. I believe strong communication, mutual respect, and a loving, attentive presence are key to helping children thrive and giving parents peace of mind.
