The most important part about being a nanny...
First and foremost, keeping your loved one/one’s safe. Following strongly behind is making a positive impact on your child/children’s life/life’s by interacting with them, challenging them, and respecting them as an equal. Children’s minds are easily molded which can be good or bad depending on who they are exposed to. I believe strongly in empowering the young to give them the confidence to go out in the world and do whatever their heart desires.
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for my little sister from age 0-6. She had learning disabilities, several years behind kids her age. She got frustrated easily, and I understand how to calmly deescalate such situations. Using a soft, gentle voice and talking to children as they are equal to us makes a huge difference. With that being said, I do not have the experience to care for severely disabled children.
