I have been a volunteer tennis coach for youths, and have had a paid assistant coach position as well. I nannied for a family of three children for almost a year. As well as afterschool and late night babysitting.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love anything that can get a kid outside, using their critical thinking skills, and creativity. Outdoor nature walks, sporting games, indoor board games, arts and crafts, talent shows, acting/preforming, reading, cooking.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is how big of an impact you can leave in the lives of the children you care about. I am always so honored to be in their memories, and play such a positive role in development. I love to lead by example, showing how empathy, patience, optimism, and hard work is incredibly valuable. Being a safe haven for children is incredibly special, the role to provide both fun and structure in a different way from their other adult mentors, is a role I take seriously and feel gratitude for.
My experience with special needs children...
Unfortunately I have little to no history with special needs children beyond volunteering in high school in special education. I am open and willing to learn and get certified in whatever is needed, but at this point in time underqualified to care as well as I would like to.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny memory would be helping a very sweet two-year old overcome her fear of birds! By the end we both loved watching the ducks and made many friends.
