Being a nanny gives you the privilege of spending extensive time with children in the most impressionable part of your life. Kids aren't dumb - they know when you're disinterested and distracted, and it affects the impression you leave on them! As a nanny, it's important to notice and change your behavior and attitude to make these children feel special, loved, and safe at all times.
My experience with special needs children...
I don't have a ton of experience but am willing to learn! I have babysat a family with a girl who has cerebral palsy and a brain shunt, which meant limited mobility and lots of adjustments to make sure she was still safe, taken care of, and happy!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I tend to accidentally leave my to go coffee cup in the dishwasher, and my nanny boy finds it and parades it around the house saying 'avery cup! avery cup!' He then proudly presents it to me the next day with a hug and a smile.
