Hi - my name is Avery. I just turned 25. I was born and raised in Abilene. I don’t drive/have a car but can figure out my own transportation. I’m the oldest out of four and really enjoyed getting to watch my siblings grow. I think my love for kids came from taking care of my siblings. I’ve always loved caring and nurturing kids. Kids bring so much happiness and light into my life. I have worked in childcare for almost 3 years now and I absolutely love it. I feel like loving on kids is my calling.

I currently work at Rainbow Bible School, and have worked there for almost three years. I love all kids and enjoy working with them and watching them grow.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing puzzles, reading books, taking walks, playing in the backyard, and just spending time and getting to know each individual kid.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is being able to show unconditional love and being able to get on their level and understand why each kid is the way they are. I also think patience is another important part about being a nanny. You have to really step back and look through their point of view.

My experience with special needs children...

I started teaching in 2019 and in my very first class I had a little down syndrome boy. Super sweet, love that boy. He definitely taught me a lot. I’m not gonna lie it was challenging at first because I had never experienced working with a special needs child up until that point. I really enjoyed getting to learn from him. I’m so glad I was able to have that experience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’ve never been a nanny but have worked in childcare. I don’t really have a “favorite” moment per say but I would have to say that some of my favorite moments are when a kid tells me they me. It warms my heart every time I hear a kid say they love me. It makes everything I do worth it.
