A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Avril and I am super passionate about working with kids! I have done so for the majority of my life, and am currently studying sociology to be a child welfare social work and I am graduating with my B.A. from UC Davis June 2024! I am looking for a job for the summer of 2024 (June-Whenever Needed) and will do pretty much whatever is needed of me to help out with children and around the house! I’ve worked with all age ranges, as well as having experience with special needs children, or any accommodations a child might need! I am also willing to work on any academic subjects with children if needed during my time with them! :)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was previously a Sunday School teacher where I taught a large range of children every week planning activities and such! I have also taken on many babysitting jobs, including all age ranges of children! I am, of course, very familiar with feeding, bathing, and changing children’s diapers, as well as helping with homework or anything else!

Along with younger children, I love interacting with older ones and I have also volunteered and worked with children with special needs!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love helping with any sorts of homework, and doing arts and crafts! I am totally down to paint, color, and play, whether it’s a sport or running around! I love puzzles, art, baking, music, and especially reading or any other interactive activities!

In all honesty, there isn’t much that I do not enjoy doing with any child if it is something they like to do! I am super open-minded and will take interest in any hobbies and activities!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Of course having a love for children I feel is a given, but also always having the child’s best interest in mind as safety and empathy are very important! I know nanny’s play such a large role in children’s lives when their parents aren’t there and that’s why it’s so important to be attentive, understanding, and loving!

I also always want to make sure I am following what the parents goals are for their children! I never strive to overstep any boundaries put in place!

My experience with special needs children...

I spent a week of my time volunteering at a camp for children/adults with special needs to work with a 15-year-old girl across the country a few summers ago. My experiences there are something I keep with me forever as it allowed me to be apart of providing experiences that some children with special needs might not get in their day-to-day lives because of the worlds lack of accommodations.

I have also worked with many children, usually above 8, in my Sunday school class! While I have not worked extensively with infant children that are special needs, I am still very comfortable in doing so and will meet any needs required to do so!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have a younger cousin, who I spent every moment I could with from the day she was born. The day her younger sister was arriving, she was about 3 at the time, I was with her and her older brother while my aunt was in the hospital, and I remember vividly reading her a book in a rocking chair. She told me one day she was going to read to her little sister just like I did to her because she was going to love her sister as much as I loved her. It was one of the sweetest things I’ll always remember! She now has three little sisters, and they are four of my most favorite people and I love spending time with them whenever I get the chance!
