Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes my job as a school bus monitor, where I work closely with kids every day to keep them safe, support their behavior, and help them feel comfortable. I also have experience through my Early Childhood Education program, where I’ve learned about child development and guiding behavior. I’ve worked with both verbal and nonverbal children, including those with special needs, and I focus on being patient and understanding each child’s way of communicating.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities I enjoy doing with children include reading, sensory play, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. I enjoy adapting activities based on each child’s needs, especially when working with verbal and nonverbal children, so they can participate in a way that works best for them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is building trust and making sure each child feels safe, understood, and supported. Especially when working with children who have different needs or communication styles, it’s important to be patient, flexible, and really tuned in to what they need
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children includes working with both verbal and nonverbal children in my role as a school bus monitor, as well as through my Early Childhood Education coursework. I have supported children with different communication styles, sensory needs, and behaviors. I focus on building trust, using patience, and adapting my approach so each child feels safe, respected, and able to participate in their own way.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was helping a child who was having a hard day calm down and feel safe again. After taking time to be patient and support them, they were able to smile and rejoin the group. Moments like that really stick with me because it shows how important it is to be a calm and supportive presence.
