A little bit about me

I am an Assistant Scout Master and Eagle Scout from Troop 109 of Millbury MA. I have about 15+ years' worth of experience working with all ages of children/kids/young adults through scouting. I am 25 and looking forward to starting a family in a few years. Cub scouts are kindergarten through 5th grade, and "Boy" Scouts are 12 years old - 18-year-olds.

I currently do not have the up to date licenses, but I have been trained and have previously had First Aid Certification, CPR certification, and Wildness First Aid certifications.

Currently, I am 25 years old with a B.S. in Marketing from the University of New Haven.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite activities I enjoy doing with children would definitely be creating/playing educational based games. The skills I love teaching are.

(First Aid Skills, Wilderness Survival, Personal Fitness, Personal Finance, knot tying, fire building, Entrepreneurship, & Character Building (Scout Oath/Law)

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is safety and communication. When working with children it is important to kneel down to be on their eye level, explain "why" something is happening, and offer a variety of positive choices. (Would you like to brush your teeth before or after we spin in a circle.)

My experience with special needs children...

When I was in the boy scouts I was directly in charge of someone with special needs as an assistant senior patrol leader where I created an Education Plan to raise their rank. While the leadership doubted my effort due to the scouts learning impairments my extra time meeting with them after school paid off when the individual passed a board of review where you are questioned intently on the information.

Another experience I have working with special needs children is while teaching as a staff member at Treasure Valley Scout Reservation where I taught the First Aid, Personal Fitness, and Chess Classes. I had a few individuals with special needs within my classes. By adjusting the lesson plan to, take into consideration the special need.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It was my first camping trip as an Assistant Scout Master. The camping trip was to Nantucket to ride bikes. When we arrived on the island we all get on bikes but one scout did not know how to ride the bike so taught him using the EDGE method Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable.

He kept falling but I did not let him give up. Everyone got tired of waiting so I stayed with him with one other scout and sent the rest to set up camp with the other leaders.

He was riding in about 3 hours but we still had to get to the other side of the island about 3 miles away. He fell many times on that trip but I stuck by him every step of the way until he had learned the valuable skill.
