Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was raised in the NY metro area, but my family is from Iceland. As a teenager, I started babysitting the children of the Icelandic consulate and foreign mission employees. Being able to speak the same language helped them warm up to me and kept them engaged in their parent’s culture. I found the job very rewarding, and started taking on full-time nanny roles when I was 21. I spent a year as the main hired caretaker for a child with asthma and other respiratory conditions who also had an autism diagnosis. I also have experience with children with ADHD and behavioral health differences. I am comfortable dispensing medication, caring for special needs, and understand the effort and patience required to do so.

Puzzles, reading books, creative games, tutoring/writing exercises, walks, parks, cultural events and sites, museums, children's yoga and movement classes, swimming, nature walks.
