A little bit about me

hello there! my name is Braelynn. I have about 5 years experience with babysitting. I have watched kids aged 1-12. I have watched kids with ASD and ADHD before and learned a lot from my time with those kiddos. I have taken the Red Cross babysitter course before and have done a CPR course in the past year and a half. In the past with babysitting I love engaging in activities the kids enjoy, so I am experienced in building blanket forts, fighting imaginary dragons, helping create the next Mona Lisa for the fridge, learning to be a goalie that is okay getting kicked with a soccer ball and just simply going on walks. During the summer months keeping cool is on the mind, when it comes to swimming I am comfortable with monitoring swim time if needed and I am an experienced swimmer. I am available all summer any time except Wednesdays 8-4 until August 24th.

The most important part about being a nanny...

knowing the kids and parents are both comfortable and happy.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for a young child who was nonverbal and Autistic for a period of time, while watching him I kept him on the schedule given to me, got him on his online classes and made sure he got to any other
extracurriculars on time. Made time to learn the Hand signals his mother taught him to use in order to communicate best with him.

I have also worked with kids who have varying degrees of ADHD so I have administered medicine before.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I once babysat a little boy about 2 and a half years old for a few months and when i first started I was terrified because he was the youngest kid i had watched at that point. Yet after a couple weeks we had become best buds and my favorite part of the day with him was taking him out back to his family’s garden and gardening with him and helping him carry in the veggies we had picked and then getting to enjoy our hard work later as a snack. Yet the most memorable part with him was creating a connection with him. Starting off he wasn’t super friendly but near the end he was comfortable to sit right next to me after a long day of activities and just fall asleep. It made me realize that he was safe enough with me to do that and i found that really reassuring that i was doing something right.
