A little bit about me

Hello to anyone that is kind enough to read this! I’m Brenna, I’m 23, I was a dance teacher all throughout highschool, primarily working with children 3-10, but worked both with older and younger kids. I would love to with kids again now that I’ve graduated college, and hope you will give me that opportunity. Some activities I enjoy doing with kids include, nature walks, hikes, and outdoor play. Hands on play such as cooking, arts and crafts, and anything to promote creativity and self expression. Movement play like dancing, sports, and playground visits. Learning based play, reading stories, gardening, and museum trips. I’m great with pets, and I'm willing to get CPR and/or First Aid certified if needed, I also have my own car and driver’s license. I have experience working with kids with special needs from autism, ADHD, downs syndrome, and more. I worked to help them stay focused, redirect when needed, ensure safety and help avoid or handle meltdowns.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a dance instructor for many years working with children of varying ages, guiding them through movement based learning and hands on activities. We would routinely work on counting, reading, both fine and gross motor skills, and memory skills. Nurturing minds with music and active movement, keeping then engaged and safe throughout the day. Many children also were either homeschooled or brought in homework, where I would assist them if needed with subjects such as reading, science, English, history, and basic math.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, make-believe, baking/cooking, arts and crafts, hiking, dancing, dress up, boardgames, pillow forts, field trips, dancing, gardening, movie nights, and so much more!

My experience with special needs children...

While working as a dance teacher, I was what we considered a "special buddy" for any child with special needs that needed extra help. This ranged from children with autism, ADHD, downs syndrome, and more. I was there to help redirect, help regulate, and be one on one while in a group setting to help insure things like meltdowns or overstimulation didn't happen.
