More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have babysat for several friends and family members throughout my life and grew very interested in being around kiddos from an early age. I went to college with the intent to become a teacher. While in college, I often volunteered at local schools to help students read or to read to them. I also volunteered in classrooms as an assistant to the teacher on several occasions. I also worked at the Boys & Girls Club of Weld County while in college. After college, I went to Thailand for a year and was responsible for teaching classes with 35 or more students ages 3-7 years old English and Math. I also ran an after school English program while living in Thailand, where I was responsible for over 100 students at the same time. Upon coming home from college, I worked briefly with a middle school special education group and absolutely loved it. I am now in the process of applying for Graduate school in hopes to become a School Counselor.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love anything from cooking, puzzles, hikes, walks, pool days, trips to the zoo or museum, amusement parks, science experiments, engaging developmental games and activities, pretty much anything that encourages a kid to be a kid, while also fostering an environment for learning and developing.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It is important to me to uphold the expectations in the household on a regular basis, while encouraging kids to be kids. I think it is so important to children to have the most fun that they can while they are young, because they will miss it one day when they are older. I intend to foster a nurturing, loving, inviting, fun and SAFE environment for the kids and family in my care.
My experience with special needs children...
The experiences I had volunteering at local schools in college, the Boys & Girls Club, teaching in Thailand, and teaching the Special Education Middle School class have all given me ample experience caring for children with special needs. I have cared for children with Austism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Seizure Disorders, and many more. I am comfortable with nearly everything.
