The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a role model puts you in a place of huge responsibility. Such as ensuring their safety and well-being. Over my experience of being a nanny, I believe I have succeeded in meeting basic needs, being emotional support, creating a positive environment, while most importantly following parent guidelines. Characteristics that I believe I have are patience, reliability, good communication, creativity, compassion and empathy!
My experience with special needs children...
I volunteered with Friendship Adventures, Friendship Adventures is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with developmental disabilities by providing social, recreational and educational activities in a safe, engaging environment while promoting inclusion, building interpersonal skills, confidence and lifelong friendships one smile at a time! But am I not certified to provide full accommodations to those children with special needs, even though I would of loved to, it doesn’t feel appropriate for me to help out in that area.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment brings me back to a Seattle field trip that I organized, we went around pike place and my favorite part was visiting the new Seattle Aquarium. My priority is for the kids to feel safe, to when a child shares their most beloved secrets, I feel I have achieved as to making a strong connection! The kid is able to fully be themselves around me, as I have previously have delt with kids who are scared to be themselves, especially with kids who are first being taken care of someone else other than family!
