A little bit about me

Hi everyone! My name is Brittany, friends and family call me Brit! I’ve been in the caregiving profession most of my life, being the oldest cousin and sibling set me up for a natural affinity for taking care of others. I babysat for teachers, bosses and family friends up until and throughout a portion of nursing school. Upon my departure from college I became a dental assistant for 3 years working with all ages, mostly preteen. I then found some work in personal caregiving and shortly after began my nanny career. I’ve been nannying/caregiving for almost 4 years and have worked closely with a few different families I’ve become extremely close with. When we’re not doing homework or preparing for/attending extracurriculars, I’m big on outside play in the warmer months, utilizing the things presented to us at home or going for a walk, a little lunch date or something like the zoo or a play place. I also enjoy cognitive activities and seeing them progress and grow

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a support system for your families. Help the parents with what they need to feel less stressed, and help the children feel comfortable to learn and grow and be themselves even when their parents may not be an arm’s length away. I’m a huge supporter of imagination and aiding in creating memories to help families not miss a moment they have together!

My experience with special needs children...

I have given personal care to someone whom was paralyzed, performing daily activities and assisting in meals, hygiene and transportation. I also have experience working with a child with autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

So many memories, impossible to pick a favorite but just last week, with the weather warmer we left the door cracked open, the fattest fly we ever saw came in (I absolutely hate bugs and the kids know it) so we immediately jumped up to the couch together and the 7 year old frantically looked for the bug killer spray, coming back with disinfectant.. in the panic I make sure the kids and baby are secure on the couch while I run around the house spraying this fly, knowing it would possibly be slippery I told them not to get up and right after I yell because the fly flew by and I sprayed it and slipped. Such a silly story, but we’ll remember that laughter for a lifetime!
