My experience with special needs children...
I worked with several children with developmental difficulties throughout my time in the 4K classroom, and tended to many adults with disabilities during my time in assisted living. I also grew up with two autistic brothers, and have had many other special needs relatives and friends throughout my life, so I'm very comfortable around the disabled community.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love to draw, and I love to share my love of drawing with kids. When I worked in a preschool, I would often sit down and draw with the kids during play time. They got really excited about making pictures for each other, putting them in each others' cubbies, and proudly announcing "There's something in your mailbox!" I loved seeing their enthusiasm and their giving hearts. It was such a special time.
