I took care of my cousins for years cause their moms a deadbeat like mine, and I took care of my own big brother cause of this. I know how to cook, how to do CPR, just not certified. Also, no GED, but I'm working on that one! My little cousin's barely 4 and he has special needs, so I learnt how to help with that. I'm 19, this July I'll be 20. I'm more proficient at taking care of babies and toddlers or adolescent children then teens or prepubescent children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I took full care of my cousins when I was 15-17. One was a little girl, 2 when I met her 3, almost 4, when she had gone back to her mama. My other cousin was 3 when I met him, 4 and almost 5 when he went to their mama. I gave them baths, helped them get changed, brushed their hair and got their teeth brushed, too. We played and had fun as long as they weren't kicking for no fun...I also made them food and helped them learn to read a write a little. In previous years, I'd also taken care of my brother at ages 10-17 while he was 11-18. I also babysat all the neighborhood children while babysitting my cousins and brother. We did group study for school and were always quiet as there was always at least one baby in the same room.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor, throwing a ball around, maybe kicking it? Just walking is fine and I usually just let the kids play amongst themselves unless they want me to join. I'm extremely careful about how I play with them, but I still try to have fun. Inside, I'll do the same. Wait for them to tell me they want me involved in playing, and it's usually legos or dino figures or dolls.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The happiness and well-being of any and all children.

My experience with special needs children...

It's not much, but my male cousin has special needs. He was high functioning and I could get through to him, learning-wise and focusing, if I talked about his building toys. Like an excavator. He was hard to get the attention of, sometimes, but we worked it out--rationally--and got through it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The kids came back from a trip to their moms, and my female cousin had a new dress with a loose belt. She tried it on, spun around and her face just lit up. And on my male cousins birthday, his face lit up when he discovered a bunch of building and digging tools just for him. They felt like superstars those days, and you could tell.
