A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Cammie and I am 19 years old. At the moment, I’m looking for some part-time work while I go to school at Brightpoint Community College studying to become a high school English teacher. Over the past couple years I’ve spent time in elementary school classrooms, daycare settings, and managing high school students. I love to spend time with my 5 dogs, friends and family, and watching new shows and movies. One of my favorite things about working with kids is planning fun activities for learning and thinking of diverse teaching methods to use in my future career. Between my experience as a lead after school teacher and baby sitter, it’s always fun to think outside of the box with a new class or child! I would love the opportunity to apply my ideas and meet new families!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Majority of my high school years were spent caring for young children in my family or investing time into public school classrooms. During my junior year of high school I got to work with the art teacher at Spring Run elementary school which led me to my decision to earn my paraprofessional certification at CTC.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some activities I love to do with kids are at home crafts using finger paint or clay, playing at the park on sunny days, and generic children’s games such as, hide and seek, four corners, or freeze tag. I also enjoy setting up activities like scavenger hunts and obstacle courses to get kids moving around. However, I also like to spend some quality quiet time with kids relaxing on the couch with a good movie or book on rainy days and down times. It’s important to know your class or child your babysitting to flow with their energy level!

My experience with special needs children...

From my work experience at a few different child development centers and public school classrooms, I’ve had the chance to work with students with special needs. Personally, my experience started at my first childcare job where I was typically tasked with caring for our students with special needs, as well as providing support and comfort in times of distress. As I moved forward with my next child development center, I had the privilege of working one on one with children with special needs in my after school class. During this time I learned to communicate and collaborate with parents for the best success in my classroom.
