More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I taught violin to a class of elementary schoolers (ages 8-11), and have had multiple music-related opportunities where I worked with children of all ages. I have babysat for a family consistently for over a year including the son and his friends. I have also been a summer camp counselor 3 years for all different ages.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to listen to music with children and help them to learn different musical concepts like tempo and rhythm. I really love doing anything that allows the child to be creative. This, of course, extends to art and art appreciation.
Overall, I enjoy opportunities that allow me to teach something valuable and enriching.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A nanny needs to be a kind, compassionate, and open-minded individual. They must also be patient, but firm when needed.

My experience with special needs children...

I have helped in caring for children with learning/intellectual disabilities in my personal life and in my paid experience.
I am incredibly knowledgeable in this area and love working with these kinds of children, as they are often "problems" (when all they really need is someone who understands them and takes the time for them). I am someone on the Autism spectrum who struggled greatly as an undiagnosed child, so I have a deep level of empathy for children with disabilities and their struggles.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I remember the moment when I truly got the respect of the child I was watching. We were having a discussion while getting ready for bed and I said something that changed the way he saw me. From then on, he was always super excited to have me babysit. Moments of connection like that are exactly what build amazing relationships.
