A little bit about me

My name is Carla Smith, I’m 18. I love kids, I have been involved and worked with kids since I was 8 years old and I’ve grown to love them even more. My favorite part of working with children is their infectious optimism and joy especially the little ones. These qualities bring out the best in me and help me do my best to care for them. Children makes me want to have a positive impact on the lives of children, build relationships with children. I have worked with children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. When I was eight I started babysitting, and I always enjoyed playing with the kids. I learned about the importance of routine and was very respectful towards the parents' wishes, making dinner, reading to the kids and getting them to bed on time. I graduated from high school just this year, I am currently in college pursuing my degree in pediatric nursing so I can further my career and do what I love. Working with kids is so fun and I love that no single day at work is the same

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an assistant teacher with special needs children at Kate Bond Elementary as a paid intern. I also was an assistant teacher at the youth academy working with kids with and without special needs in the age group of 2 1/2- 4 years old. I also have experience with newborn- 1 year olds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing arts and craft with children as well as reading books writing stories together, playing soccer outdoors, Painting or drawing together, Creating a fort in your living room out of blankets or cardboard boxes, Having a sunset picnic at a park or in front of the house, Playing board games, and etc. Anything that the kids may enjoy and things to keep them active, engaged and entertained.

The most important part about being a nanny to me patience, communication, love, compassion, creativity, cooking, dependability, problem solving, first aid, and etc. I can also get the full mommy experience before I have my own kids.
