Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Throughout college, I volunteered at the Slippery Rock Equestrian center. Here, we worked on recreational therapy with children and adults with special needs. This is an awesome experience because you are working with both compassionate animals and people that are excited to be there. During my time volunteering, I worked as a lead that would direct horses with disabled individuals on trail rides, and other interactive activities.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing arts and crafts with children as well as playing guitar to have them sing along. Outdoor activities include going to the park, the beach, taking a walk, having a mini picnic, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think what matters most about being a nanny is ensuring the kids are having fun but also accomplishing what needs to be done (if there is anything such as schoolwork, chores, etc.) Additionally, I think it is important that the children feel comfortable having me as their nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for my little cousin for nearly 10 years now (on and off throughout summer times) He is autistic and I have helped him increase his social interaction skills and we have worked on managing his emotions in a healthy way as well as work with education skills (counting, colors, matching, etc.)
