Hello! My name is Chelsea. I am currently completing my pre-nursing coursework and preparing to enter a Nursing program. I am seeking a flexible position that supports my academic commitments while allowing me to continue doing what I enjoy—caring for others.

I have experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as a Personal Support Specialist (PSS) in a memory care community. I provide direct, hands-on care to individuals with cognitive conditions and work closely alongside nurses. I have experience with vital signs, individualized care plans, recognizing and reporting changes in condition, and supporting individuals and their families. My caregiving experience has taught me patience, attentiveness, communication, and the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My direct experience caring for children has primarily been through caring for children of family members and family friends. However, most of my professional caregiving experience comes from working as a DSP and PSS. I have supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and currently work in memory care providing hands-on care. These roles have given me extensive experience with patience, safety, communication, personal care, recognizing individual needs, and responding calmly in different situations. I believe many of these caregiving skills transfer very well to working with children, and I would love the opportunity to bring that experience into a nannying role.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy keeping kids active and engaged with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities! I love arts and crafts, coloring, baking, playing outside, going for walks, visiting the playground, reading, and playing games. I especially enjoy incorporating learning into games and activities so kids can have fun while also building new skills. I’m also happy to help with homework and schoolwork when needed. I love finding activities based on each child’s interests and age, and I believe in encouraging creativity, learning, independence, and, most importantly, having fun!

My experience with special needs children...

While I do not have professional experience specifically caring for children with special needs, I have extensive experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). This has given me experience providing individualized support, assisting with daily living needs, adapting my communication style, following care plans, encouraging independence, and remaining patient and understanding of each person’s unique needs. I would be comfortable applying these skills while learning the individual needs and routines of a child.
