A little bit about me

My name is Chelsea Sherrard! I am currently a para educator and sometimes a substitute teacher in a HS I work primarily in special education and have summers off. I recently graduated with my Associates degree (December 2023) and am currently in my Bachelors program (online) for education my goal is to become a special education teacher for level three students these are children who have more severe special needs whether those needs be physical or developmental I love helping people with disabilities. My goal is to help every child lead the most independent lives possible for them! I love working on activities that promote independence and help with life skills that will last a life time! My mantra is that behavior is communication every time it’s all about learning each child’s unique language and reaching them where they are! I have a 1 year old son so I will need flexibility as I will need to bring him. I work with multiple children at once regularly so this will not be an issue!

I currently work at a high school as a para educator. I have a passion for helping people with special needs my goal is always to help them live, the healthiest and happiest most INDEPENDENT lives possible for them. I love working on life skills and finding new activities to do with children with special needs that promote independence to get them ready for post secondary living! Independence looks so different for everyone in their own unique situations! I am currently in my bachelors program at UNI my goal is to become a special education teacher and one day I hope to earn my masters degree and become a behavioral strategist!
