A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Christina! I am an incoming University of Minnesota Medical Student who loves working with children and is passionate about creating a safe and joyful nannying experience!

I began babysitting/nannying in high school and continued through college. Additionally, I have worked with children in professional/clinical settings for 1.5 years. I love coming up with creative ways to keep your kiddos engaged and active during my time with them.

I have experience with children from infants to teenagers. I have also worked with large families in the past and am very comfortable nannying multiple children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 1 year of experience as a pediatric dental assistant as well as 1 year of experience as a gymnastics coach. As a dental assistant, I worked with kids from 6 months to 17 years old. I also worked with kids who had physical or mental disabilities. The dentist can be a scary place for young kiddos, so I loved turning their visits into a happy experience by giving our tools kid-friendly names, demonstrating the exam on stuffed animals, or singing with them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love keeping kiddos active —whether its with their bodies or minds! If weather permits outdoor activity, I enjoy playing ball games, drawing with chalk, jump roping, playing tag, etc. Getting kids outdoors and developing their love of nature is super important to me.

For indoor activities, I enjoy building forts, playing board games, and using toys for creative imaginative play. I also love finding age-appropriate arts and crafts on Pinterest so there is always something new to try! I was a huge reader as a child, so I also try and incorporate "story time" aka read-aloud time as much as I can.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny to me is 1) safety of the child(ren) and everyone in the home, and 2) providing a space for your child(ren) to have fun and learn.

Safety is my number one priority with your children. I am very-detail oriented and diligent, especially when it comes to observation of potential risks or hazards. However, if an accident does occur, I am first-aid and CPR certified. Working in a clinical pediatric environment has taught me how to stay calm and level-headed in high pressure situations.

My other main goal is that your kiddo(s) have fun while they are in my care. While my years of experience mean I have plentiful suggestions to keep kids busy, I love when they lead our time together and let me know what activities they love to do the most. I believe that the best types of "play" involve learning — whether its learning what a new flower is called, or how to share, or how to hold a crayon!

My experience with special needs children...

Though I do not have experience nannying special needs children, I do have professional clinical experience with them through my work as a pediatric dental assistant. I understand the importance of approaching each kiddo with an individualized mindset while keeping core principles of patience, communication, and a strengths-based focus.

As a caregiver to your child, I am excited to partner with you to learn about your kiddo's specific likes/dislikes, routines, and communication preferences.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was once babysitting an 18 mo. old boy while his parents were away for an evening. Through our first few hours, we went through several different types of play, from dance parties, to toy tractors, to reading books, etc. I noticed he was quickly becoming bored of new activities, so I decided that we would just walk around the house to see if anything piqued his interest. As I began walking up the stairs while holding him, he became very excited. So, I let him try walking up a few steps with my help. And he loved it! We spent the next full hour, walking up and down the stairs. He was giggling and squealing the whole time. That moment still makes me smile because of how simple it was. But at the end of the day he was happy and able to go to bed easily because of how much the stairs wore him out.
