I like to get a read on what the child enjoys and depending on their age these things vary, but I love doing active things! Playing outside, doing crafts, cooking ect.!
My experience with special needs children...
While I have minimal experience in this area, I did nanny for a family with a five year old son who was high functioning autistic. He required assistance with using the restroom as well as certain dietary modifications!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite memory was with a family I nannied for for years and at the time their daughter was about five. She is smart and witty beyond her years! I asked what her favorite thing for lunch was and she answered "prosciutto and cheese"! I'm confident I wouldn't have even known what that was at her age.
