More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a “breaker” at stacey’s fun in the sun preschool. I would go to multiple classrooms a day to give the teachers their lunch break and would go where I was most needed at that time to give the teachers an extra pair of hands to help around the classroom and with the children. I took 10 hours of training classes regarding information like cleanliness in the classroom, recognizing signs of abuse and neglect, safety precautions in case of emergencies (such as fire safety, active threat situations, inclement weather possibilities), structure in the classroom and helping the children learn, grow and cope with their emotions. This job helped me improve my skills involving dealing with busy, high stress situations and environments, multi-tasking and problem solving.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love incorporating music and art into my time spent with kiddos, spending time outdoors and getting them active, engaging in activities that will stimulate their ever-growing minds and helping out with activities that will improve coordination, concentration, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
making sure that the parents and child both feel comfortable with me being a part of their lives and in their home. it’s not uncommon for the child to panic when the nanny shows up because they learn that when I come, mom or dad usually goes but making sure they’re nice and distracted when the time goes for mom or dad to head off and reassured that they will be back when they’re done with their day! It’s very important to me that the parents feel comfortable with me and are able to trust that their kiddo will be in good hands while they’re away!
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have much professional experience with special needs children but my little cousin is on the autism spectrum and I have spent lots of time with him over the last 9 years. I have worked with kiddos who have shown some behavioral issues as well at my time working in daycare and helped them figure out how to process and express all those big emotions going on in their little bodies!!
The most important part about being a nanny...
my favorite moment would have to be when the little girl i was nannying for about a year and a half was able to say my name for the first time! those C’s and L’s can be tricky so it took almost a year for her to get the hang of it but we worked on it together :)
