A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Dana and I enjoy all art forms. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, botany, and crafts. I own a small business called 3rdEyeWokeDesigns where I dabble in prints and potions. I’m very easy to get along with and patient when getting to know other people.

In the past I’ve had a few baby sitting jobs, and when around family they call me Aunty day day because they know I enjoy soothing and calming children, but most of all teaching them.

As an adult we sometimes lose sight that we were ever children. But at my core I believe it is children who capture and create the beauty of reality because they see what is, not what you just want them to see.

If given the chance to nanny I believe in the growth and development of kids, not just sitting them in front of a tv but teaching them new skills and activities to expand their minds and talents. So be prepared for daily videos of sticky hands & art videos.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating trust between the child nanny and parents. By allowing a nanny into your home it’s not just about can you trust them around your things, but can you trust them around your children. Kids are the future, they are the growing embodiment of life itself.

So how you proceed with that child means everything, to how that child will one day treat someone else. As a child growing up my greatest moments were with adults who talked to me as of I were among equals. That meant more then any adult could ever know. Because it taught me to truly listen to the children around me. Not to take words at face value but to really look at the face when words are said.

My experience with special needs children...

I baby sit for someone’s child who is special needs: autistic. Overall it’s about being patient when finding out how the child communicates. Then catering the day around what makes them comfortable. In the end it’s about making children feel comfortable inside their skin and around others. I believe no matter the mental of physical disabilities kids are just that, kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I taught a child to shade & mix complimentary colors. The end result was astonishing, seeing their face light up with amazement as he proceeds to tell me “blue and yellow make greeeeeen, blue and red make purpleeee.”

Knowing that in the future every-time he creates a new shade of color he’ll think about the first time.
