Understanding of infant and toddler neural development including responsive program planning, creating a developmentally appropriate practice, nutritional support and menu planning and behavioral support. Qualified to work alongside speech, physical and occupational therapists. I want to foster the domains of development through a series of games that stimulate and teach all tended in a garden of love. And to challenge children to explore their world using all their senses and develop a lifelong desire for exploration, discovery and knowledge. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with ABA therapists and speech therapists. Volunteer preschool experience, infant teaching and working as a child care specialist; nutrition planning, curriculum writing, progress reports and assessments. Strong knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach and Montessori methods.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Loose parts art, sensory boards, obstacle courses, imaginative play, discovery walks where we gather marvelous things from nature and observe and use them to create projects, advanced science projects such as identifying insects in nature, using a magnifying glass on nature walks to provide a sense of wonder. Lots of reading!!! I enjoy using basic items to foster play. Items such as muffin tins, ice trays, tongs, shaving cream, raw oatmeal, rice and large paintbrushes provide a variety of fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Encouraging a loving, positive, nurturing and reciprocal relationship is very important and something I am very passionate about. Fostering the domains of development; physical, cognitive, social-emotional and language while providing a series of games and activities that promote a lifelong desire for exploration and discovery.

My experience with special needs children...

Over the years, I have worked closely with non-neuro typical children. Autism, Mensa and Einstein Syndrome are all conditions I am very familiar with. Strong working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and specific programs and strategies to assist children in working through their frustration and help them achieve flexibility and high tolerance to frustration and emotional regulation skills. Familiar with creating visual schedules and activities that promote fine motor, visual motor and visual perception.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The best moments are the ones that are completely spontaneous! I remember a sweet 16 month old who gave me a wonderful smile before running off. I chased her, her adorable voice squealing with delight. I scooped her up and began cuddling her and she giggled and laughed and paused to look at me to see if I would do it again. I pretended I was going to "drop" her and then I pulled her back up and said, "I would NEVER let you go!" We repeated this over and over and her explosive giggles gave me such happiness. I can't resist the cuddles and the snuggles!
