A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Danielle. I have a Double Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Sociology from Salem State University in Massachusetts. I’ve been lead teacher certified to teach and care for children from infants, to up to 3rd grade. My experience working with children began from a recommendation from my Child Development teacher in high school when I was 15 years old. I have been working with kids ever since, mainly in day care settings as well, becoming Director certified at age 18. I’ve worked with ELL/ESL students, and as well as Autistic students. Been working with kids for over 30 years now.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been working day cares since the age of 15, accumulating infant, toddler and preschool lead teacher certifications. I went on to graduate with a double BA degree in early childhood education and sociology, and passed the teachers tests state wide and did my student teaching to become certified for K-3rd grade age levels. I’ve been working in all of those classroom settings, as well as babysitting jobs on the side in the home, always incorporating learning through play, while incorporating age appropriate level curriculum, all year long.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I ‘m always incorporating curriculum into all activities - from puzzles and books, to all kinds of art. From the alphabet, to numbers and so much more that we cover in early childhood education. More available play resources, the better. I like to always have the kids be learning through fun play activities that they enjoy year round. When it comes to outside time, happy to go on walks,
riding bikes, outside play at home, or at a park. From chalk to riding bikes to whatever the situation may be. Water play is also perfect for here in FL, esp in the summers. Whatever space and equipment available, that is safe that the kids enjoy, I’m happy to do. I tend to be very active in my own life as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is having a real connection, and love for the children as I would my very own. I hope to love the parents, and the situation just as much!

My experience with special needs children...

I began working with children when I was 15, and went to work M-F after my classes - and I did this throughout college. I worked full time during the summers every year, and we always had children from an Autistic school come with their teachers to help migrate the students into the classroom setting. It was extremely eye opening and rewarding in many ways, and I always looked forward to that experience. Doing that for over 10 years was an amazing learning experience that I found extremely rewarding. The majority of my experience working privately have been with nonverbal children, and children with speech delays of all kinds.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was back in college when taking the elder brother into the hospital to meet his baby sister for the first time. He saw his first real rainbow in the sky that day on the way to go see her. It was a magical and unforgettable day.

As I got older and have been working with children with speech delays, there are many favorite moments - such as when they say a word for the first time. I take pride in teaching the kids I care for, and their progress and milestones are my favorite moments.
