More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Ran summer camp programs for the YMCA for 22 years, then fora company that provided summer camp for children with special needs for 2 years. Oversaw budgets as large as $1.7m, enrollment as high as 600 children/week, and staffing levels exceeding 125 people.

I have experience in all areas of Youth Development including infant/toddler care, school age child care, summer camp, teen programs, swim lessons, and swim team.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have a Bachelors in Theatre (Costume Design), so I like to think tie dye is the one I am best at. I like to sing, perform, do arts'n'crafts, paint nails, explore local trails and go hiking, do science projects, play sports, read, meditate, cook, play with legos and cars, and generally be creative with whatever materials may be on hand. My aim is intentionality, working in learning and character development into everything I do with children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Reliability and judgment. Parents need to know that when they’re not there, someone capable is making thoughtful decisions in their place and maintaining routines that help their child feel secure.

My experience with special needs children...

Extensive. I ran a camp for children with special needs, with about 100 out of 600 children/week with a diagnosis. I ran a program for kids with special needs at a camp in Richmond. My most recent summer camp was for children with diabetes, many of whom had other special needs as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While running a summer camp, I hired two Counselors who ended up dating. I went to their wedding, and was there for the delivery of their baby. I became his nanny while his Mom taught school for a year; he was 8 months when I got him.

While I have many fond memories, going on a "field trip" to Bass Pro Shops and having our picture taken wearing fun hats was one of the best. We also made friends with ducks, talked to flowers, saw fish, read books, and played with my cat (who was super tolerant of him!).
