More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Last year in 2024, I volunteered in an organization called RFK (royal family kids) with children who are placed in the foster care system. I was a counselor with a designated child and for a week I did all sorts of activities that stemmed to the outdoors and expanded all the way to my face bombarded with makeup that had made me look more gorgeous than my own high school prom night. It was a wonderful experience and would be doing it again this year but annoyingly have to do my civil expectation of jury duty this June.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I absolutely love coloring, going outside for exciting adventures (a good excuse to wear out their energy), storytelling while helping little ones read, sing along to their favorite music (personal Disney fan), and crafts. For boys I've grown up with "shooting" zombies and hosting WWE championship fights with action figures or their own brothers, making forts, and having a grand old time. I don't mind getting dressed up for tea parties, making bracelets, playing with dolls, and hosting fun little tea parties with are very real watered down tea pot that we don't question whether it's been washed or not.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing that I take away from being a nanny is the intentionality you choose to give with these kids. It takes patience, setting clear boundaries/rules, firm yet gentle instructions, and creative interaction that fully engages their interests and learning abilities. When being intentional, you create a bond with a child which opens up a high responsibility of making sure they are being taught and given information that will allow them to have a memorable and genuine childhood that every child deserves. I never want a child to ever have to grow up too quick compared to my own background, as I find it to be my privilege and obligation to make sure every child, I meet is able to experience the moments of a safe and positive environment that teaches them nothing but warmth, love, respect, and joy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was with my two younger cousins who are between the ages of five and eight and they BEGGED me to let them paint my nails. Of course, as the best cousin award, I'm upheld to a higher standard and didn't think twice about saying yes. Let's just say that nail polish had more in-depth layers upon it and took about a couple months before such nail polish had been removed. I didn't have the heart to take it off nor tell them no, because they kept saying "just a touch more, just a touch," as they slathered on sparkly pink on one hand and clear sparkle on the other. I proudly went to work with this nail polish and boasted to anyone who dared to ask as I'm always proud of presenting the things little kids make for me because of how important it is to them knowing that they are seen, heard, and acknowledged in a way that brings positive encouragement and support of their future ambitions later in life.
