Activities I enjoy doing with children...
In Washington we have to be creative and come up with a lot of indoor play activities for kiddos during the rainy season! I love creating sensory bins, doing water play, arts and crafts, and using music and instruments for indoor play. I’m not afraid of the rain though! I still love taking kiddos to the park, the zoo, for walks/runs, and for hikes if the parents are ok with us being that adventurous!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is becoming a part of the family! I do this by genuinely caring about your children and you as parents. I value how important my position in your home is as your nanny, and how influential I can be to your kids. I always treat my kids with kindness, love and comfort to ensure they always feel safe and secure! You can tell how much I love all my previous nannying kids because I refer to them as “my kids”!
My experience with special needs children...
The first family I nannied for had a son with sensory needs that require Occupational therapy twice a week. I was responsible for taking him to/from his appointments and taking notes from the therapist on what we could work on at home. I then incorporated the activities at home in our daily play!
At the CDC, I also had several encounters with children with speech delays, Autism, ADHD, and ADD. Each of these kiddos needed different support in the classroom, which we managed by creating individualized care plans.
