Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've been a babysitter for almost 7 years, since my sophomore year of high school. I've never nannied before, but have done overnight stays at previous client's homes so I feel very comfortable with that aspect of the job! I used to work summer camps at Children's Theatre Charlotte and the YMCA during high school, and upon moving to start college I continued my babysitting work there. My clients are like family. I'm proud to say that I'm still in touch with many of them and consider those groups of parents some of my close friends.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love for my kids to spend time outside! Depending on the season, that can mean swimming, snowball fights, outdoor painting and tie-dying! Some of my favorite babysitting gigs have also included dance parties (no dance skills required), board games, cookie-decorating competitions, pizza parties, movie nights, and spa nights. Before bed, reading and reflecting on the day are a must!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the children you work with feel safe and cared for. It's my top priority that the kids I work with feel empowered, respected, and inspired to step into the future and make huge strides in their own lives. There's nothing I love more than watching former clients of mine succeed and thrive as they move into adulthood and beyond!
My experience with special needs children...
Caretaker for a special needs child in elementary school during school days while I was in 8th grade at the adjacent middle school. I helped walk her to classes, ate lunch with her when she was emotionally distressed, and assisted her kindergarten teacher with improving her literacy skills. I absolutely loved the job and would 100% be happy to care for your little ones should they have special needs! I believe every child is deserving of all the love and care in the world, no exceptions.
