A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Diamond. Although I do not have any professional experience as a nanny, I do have years of personal experience. Growing up my mom had to work multiple jobs to care for us. By me being the oldest, I had to look out for my younger siblings at the age of 8 years old! As I got older, family members and even friends of family members paid me to watch their children. I love kids so very much. They are my passion. I love how free they are and I love that I can live and care for them and protect them from the real world dangers of basically life lol . Before withdrawing from college to start working full time to pay for bills, I was majoring in education. I would love to be a teacher someday. Throughout school, I tutored many of my classmates. Sometimes without even knowing the subject, but because of my kind and gentle spirit people came to me anyways because they found comfort in me and knew I was willing to help them achieve anything even if I had to learn the skill alone.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Babysitting for others from ages 11-current. I had jobs as a home-care aide , which was caring for elders but I believe it is the same concept .

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to listen to music. I love singing and dancing. I love to play many board games and go outside and play hop scotch and tag and baseball. I love building forts! Hahaha. I am full of energy myself. I love watching cartoons. I absolutely love baking ! I love to learn, but I love to do it in fun ways . I think outside of the box when I plan activities . There will always be an adventure with me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to change someone’s life . Also, being an inspiration to someone . Seeing the sweet innocent smiles and giggles you can bring to someone is amazing. Of course, you want to get paid but caring for someone that eventually loves you and even looks up to you is so much more heartwarming. They will grow up and love you so dearly. You have a big impact on their lives whether you know it or not .

My experience with special needs children...

I have a cousin that has autism. I know that they are gifted children. My experience with him was getting him to use his other senses in order to speak, such as touching something that he wanted or touching what was bothering him. Blinking his eyes once or twice to tell me he was hungry or thirsty. It was a struggle to understand his feelings or what was bothering him sometimes because he doesn’t speak and he shows very little emotion. But once we became comfortable around each other I started to understand him and he started to become more comfortable with letting me understand him. Every child is different I have the spirit of learning the difference in a child’s needs and/or wants.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite but also sad moment was my mom’s friends child reaching out to me in 2019 to tell me that she had missed me. (They moved away I haven’t heard from her since they had left). She told me that it was a time in her life where she felt unimportant and whenever I came around she could forget all about her anxiety and negative thoughts because I treated her as if she was a movie star.( She wants to be an actress). She told me how nobody not even her teachers at school made her feel the way I felt and for that she thanked me and asked could I come visit her . (I still haven’t went but I do still communicate with her and plan on visiting soon). It was a happy but sad moment for me because even though I changed her life in a way, I was guilty because I only was doing it for the money at the time not knowing how I really impacted her life .

Jay H. - Seeking Work in Chicago

Full-Time Nanny Available in Chicago, IL: Jay H.

I'm originally from Colombia, arrived in 2015 as an Aupair (Philly-Portland, OR). After the Au pair program, I decided to move and (later)stay in SD.
I speak Spanish/English fluently and basic ASL, which I teach to the babies.

Every single one of my past jobs have been with 2m-18m old. My extensive experience is mainly focused on that age gap, (it’s also my favorite 😆)
I have tried/experienced every method out there regarding sleep training, solids, routine, baths, potty, feeding schedules, formula brands and colic/reflux babies.

After covid, I decided to follow the steps to become a Paramedic. Currently, I attend evening classes to be an EMT.
I’m a transgender man, I was born and lived most of my life as a woman. Now I use he/him pronouns. Some families may feel uneasy at the idea of a “manny”, but once you see me interact with them, you'll realize I'm a baby whisperer. My gift is to understand non verbal cues = babies language 🤷🏽‍♂️
