My name is Dyshanell Peek and I’m a graduating student from Savannah State University. My hobbies are modeling, instructing dance, and fashion. I’ve been been a babysitter/ nanny for over 6 years now. My goal is as a babysitter/ nanny is to invest in learning my kid so that I can give them the best needs. I would’ve never thought that children would be one of my passions. I’ve been a dance instructor for kids, a 2nd and 4th grade teacher, and now I’m also becoming certified yo work with kids who have autism. Developing a trustworthy relationship and bonding. If the kid does not trust me then their experience would not be great. So I try to make each child feel special so that he/she will feel more safe, have fun, and learn.

I’m a certified RBT and in the process of training on teaching autistic children basic skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My first time learning how to do tummy time. My infant twins hated doing it and I could tell. I wanted to pick them up so bad but the mother told me I had to tough it out and make them comfortable. I had to figure out a way to distract them so they wouldn’t get so fussy during tummy time. I tried everything and finally they just loved when I made a fool of myself by making silly faces and laying with their toys. The mother and I started laughing because we both agreed that making a fool of yourself is what make kids just laugh and be happy.
