I have worked with children in many different development stages from birth- age 14.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities are usually child led unless they are of young age and I would set up activities that are focused on the development of their fine and gross motor skills, problem solving, critical thinking, speech and language development, and just activities that are fun and enriching for that child's age group. I always say if I am bored the kids have to be bored which means it’s time for me to find an activity! With older kids there can never be a dull moment.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure that your nanny kids feel safe, loved, heard, and comfortable at all times. Especially with multiple kids because siblings have similarities but they are still people and all people are different and sometimes they need different approaches. Additionally, I just feel like having a good relationship with the parents is important. Communication is key for a successful partnership with families. I still check on all my nanny kids to this day and I have had a lot but it matters to me!
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have much experience with children with exceptional needs, but I am taking a course that is teaching me some of the things that school aged children endure and how I can be a great educator to any kids with exceptional needs that I may encounter.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moments is seeing my kids wait for my arrival and being so excited to see me that they start break dancing or running away from me. Just so sweet!
