A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Ellie and I was born and raised in Minneapolis! I recently decided to take a step back from my corporate job to explore other (and more enjoyable) job opportunities. :) I have experience caring for children since I was pretty much a kid myself. I am adventurous but responsible and always keep an open mind, which I have found beneficial in terms of building trusting and communicative relationships with children. With a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and having incorporated Child Psychology into my studies, I am easily approachable given both my personal and professional understanding of children. Although I'm not a kid anymore I'm still continuing to grow as a person, and I would love the opportunity to share that experience with your children as they do the same.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Regular babysitting jobs for neighbors with kids of all ages from [phone number hidden]; daycare experience; volunteer for an elementary after school program; group home experience both for physical/mental developmental disabilities; nannying for child from infancy-2 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything outdoors! Swimming, nature walks, rollerblading/biking, sidewalk chalk, gardening, picnics in the park, etc. Growing up in Minnesota I’ve also spent many winters skiing, sledding, and ice skating as well. As for indoor activities I enjoy going to any type of museum, going to the movies, doing art projects, puzzles, baking and more. However, I am always open to new adventures and activities!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Learning how to incorporate a child’s perspective in addition to your own and being the best possible role model based this approach.

My experience with special needs children...

During my spring semester of 2018 I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. My program also included an internship that I took part in as an English tutor at one of the local elementary schools. I worked with all of the students in my classroom but particularly close with one student who was severely developmentally delayed and not provided with the appropriate curriculum due lack of resources by the local education system. Although resources were limited, I was able to provide the individualized attention this child needed and strengthen their communication skills during the time I spent there.

I also have previous experience working in group homes with Deaf children and adults who had ranging physical and mental developmental disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When the boy I had been a nanny for since the very beginning stages of his life started speaking audible language and said my name for the first time but also when he was able to start remembering it each time I saw him. :)
