Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Through Clemson, for the past two years I have been student teaching in local elementary schools. I have helped with activities, crafts, and even led my own lessons. I have also worked as a camp counselor for both KE camps and Stevenson school. As a camp counselor I was in charge of a group of campers of all different ages. I led them through games, activities, and excursions.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
A few indoor activities that I enjoy doing with children are playing card games, reading books, and hide-and-seek. Some of the outside activities that I enjoy doing with children are going to the park, playing sports, and swimming.
My experience with special needs children...
My freshman year of college I worked with Clemson’s best buddy program. I was a buddy to a young man with autism. We did group activities, went to sporting events, and went to go get ice cream together throughout the year. I also have done a lot of volunteer work with special olympics.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when the two boys that I was looking after were playing a water game outside. The water was coming out of a tube and into the air. The water would hold up a baseball and the boys were taking turns trying to hit the ball. The older of the two boys could hit it every time. The younger brother wasn’t having as much luck. But the first time he was able to hit the ball was so exciting. It was great seeing him so happy to be able to do it. I loved being apart of all the joy that hitting the ball brought him.
