Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a behavioral therapist working with special needs children of all ages for a year. I then pivoted to nannying. My first family had one 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy. I cared for them for a year until they were both 4 and 2. I’m currently working for a family with a 7 month old, and I will be with them until he is 8 months when he will start daycare.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love taking kids on walks and exploring nature. It’s also always fun to do some outside play with things like bubbles, water, etc. Painting, coloring, and drawing is always a good time too, even if it gets a little messy :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
I always prioritize consistency from caregiver to caregiver, so I will often take the lead from mom and/or dad in my child care style. The bond between child and parent is the most important thing, and I feel it’s my job to assist in strengthening that with as much consistency as possible.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with special needs children for a year. It was my first real child care type job.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite, but I do love to see when a child learns something new. The moment you see them “get it” is just best.
