A little bit about me

I have worked with children for years. I was never a formal nanny, but I spent a large part of my life either helping my sisters’ raise their kids or watching their friends children. The most children I have watched at a time was 8, and they were all well cared for, well fed, and in bed on time! I did also go to school for teaching for a year at Eastern Oregon University, which taught me a lot about child development and ways to successfully teach children of all ages. I have several references for the quality of care I provide. I have been known as the “baby whisperer” in my family for years because I can calm even the most colicky or fussy child with ease. I would love to care for your little ones, and I would be happy to be to get any certifications or take any courses necessary to do so! I’m also a pretty good baker and cook!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I went to school for a year at EOU to become a teacher. Even though I didn’t finish the program, I did learn a lot about child development. I even made lesson plans for a preschool class!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love arts and crafts. I would often get the kids I watched involved in baking if I was making cookies or something like that. I also love making homemade play dough and slime with children, if permitted by the parents first!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing to me about being a nanny is the making sure that the child’s needs are met; that they are fed, they are happy, and they are healthy. I am also keen on meeting or exceeding the expectations of the parents. I make sure the house is clean, their children are thriving, and I often times will bake something for them to come home to.

My experience with special needs children...

I used to work with two absolutely wonderful autistic children, who I grew to love very much. I also learned how to help children of all levels of need learn and grow developmentally and socially during my time at EOU!

The most important part about being a nanny...

My absolute favorite moments would probably be when I am doing a learning activity with my kids, and I see that switch where they go from being confused to understanding. More specifically, I remember I was working with a child on his math homework because it was the subject that he struggled most with in school. He kept getting frustrated with the work because he couldn’t seem to understand it. I would soothe him by taking a short break and coming back to it. Eventually, after the fourth new method of trying to teach him how to do it, I saw it click in his eyes. He finally understood what I was talking about. His favorite subject in school is now math!
