I had a child that burst into tears when she found out that it was my birthday and she didn't have a present or a cake for me. After a few minutes of working through the big feelings, she got up to go play and I went to take care of a couple chores. When I returned to the play room, she had made me a card and she insisted that we have a birthday party with her stuffed animals. It's one of my favorite birthday memories.
