Hello! My name is Emma Hoskinson, I am twenty years old, and a freshman enrolled in Elementary Education at Northern Illinois University. I am looking to gain more work experience in childcare to help with my future teaching. My passion is working with children and vulnerable populations. I have years of experience in child development as a nanny and have spent a couple years working as a categiver for my local assisted living facility as well. I am trained in tutoring due to my time spent as a piano teacher and my time spent at NIU. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a caregiver of children since I was nine years old. Professionally, I I became a mother's helper for my neighbor's two boys, ages four months through ten years old. When I turned fourteen, I started as their Nanny. I prepared and gave meals, administered medicine and first aid, housework, drove children to and from activities, taught good
manners, and bathed and dressed children. I also designed and led piano courses for three kids, ages 4-12, every week. I taught them about the basics of piano and prepared them for two recitals a year. Besides my professional work, I have done on-call babysitting for other children in my neighborhood and have volunteered at my local church for Sunday School.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite part of working with children is the time we get to spend outdoors. Swimming, walking, sports, coloring with chalk, blowing bubbles, riding bikes...I'm not afraid to get a little dirty playing outside with your kids! I was also a dancer and volleyball player for most of my life and love to be active. I love to cook and bake and enjoy sharing that joy with kids. Of course, I will work at the pace of your kids and am open to any activities they may enjoy!

The most important part about being a nanny...

My goal in life is assisting and setting up children for success, that's why I am in school to become a teacher. I believe every child deserves the love and support for success and I strive to bring that reinforcement.

My experience with special needs children...

I myself am diagnosed autistic. I have been receiving help all my life and am fully functioning. Due to my own personal experience I am well-versed with the needs of children with disabilities and have been a caretaker for many. I have also worked in an assisted living facility with the elderly and am experienced with physical disabilities and first aid.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite Nanny moment is when I taught my ten year old neighbor how to ride the bus. I helped him plan the trip, get the tickets, get a map, and let him take the lead during the whole trip. I went with him of course, but he successfully completed the trip and had fun! I have nannied this boy since he was four months old and watching him grow up has been a great honor. I am very proud of all of the children I have had the privilege of caretaking.
