"Emma took care of my son Jackson, who is 19 years old, autistic and is diagnosed with psychosis. She was there when Jackson had both good days and bad days, she helped him with his homework which was challenging as he often would want to play with his toys and construct things instead of doing his homework. She stuck to his daily routine schedule, and knew how to keep him busy and distracted when he was having a bad day. She cooked him his favorite meals like beef stew and medium style steak cubes, while also administering his day and night medication. I appreciated her help, as it can be very hard for my husband and I to take care of our son Jackson and his psychosis."

"Emma was my Part Time Nanny for my daughter who’s in Middle School, and is adopted from China. She helped her with her homework, took her to her summer horse riding lessons, as well as to her track meets when they were hosted at the Belleville High School. She did light meal prep and light housekeeping as well as handled the laundry, as I am a Full Time Middle School Special Education Teacher, and am not always around to take care of her as well as help her with her homework."

"She is great with Special Needs Children, she took great care of my grandson, who is now currently 9 years old. She was a Live in Nanny for our family, as my son as well as my daughter in law were living abroad to take care of my daughter in laws parents. She gave round o clock care for my grandson Will, he used to be mute but has been getting better at verbally communicating his needs and wants. She used to help diaper him in the early mornings and throughout the day, as well as change his bedsheets whenever he had an accident. I could always rely on her to fix him a healthy snack when he needed it, and she was able to get him to try and talk about how his day was and did her best to teach him to say Grandma , it made me so happy to finally hear my grandson call me Gram."

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor Activities such as: Going on walks, playing tag, playing on the swings, playing at the playground, Hide and Seek, playing duck duck goose, playing ghosts in the graveyard, going to the dog park, walking around town, and gardening.
Indoor Activities such as: Reading books, playing make-believe, putting on plays, playing house, playing card games like go fish, playing board games, playing cashier or pretending to cook and bake, playing on the learning mats, building and constructing forts/LEGO sets and fortresses.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the infants and children are being well cared for, both during their sick days, sad days, and happy days. Making sure that they are fed healthy meals and snacks, and are ready to start their day and ready to go to sleep.

My experience with special needs children...

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was Nannying for An aunt of mine located in Batavia, NY (Her 5 year old grandson) would stomp around like a dinosaur and pretend he was big and scary, and I’d let him follow me around as if he were chasing me. He wore his blue dinosaur onesie.

I'm a highly experienced bilingual, art and nature oriented teacher and early childhood specialist. I am very well trained and hold degrees in education.
I run a successful family child care business for more than 10 years in Madison, WI where I worked directly with infants and young children full day where children were fed homemade nutritious meals the wd help prepare, organized scheduling and routines, planned child lead and adult lead activities, thought play, had lots of fun rain, snowed or shine.
I value respect, kindness, and flexibility. I believe every child should be given the opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace with adult guidance nurtured in safety, love, understanding, positive interactions, consistency, and clear communication.
I believe children learn best when included in decision making (when possible) and when offered clear and limited options to choose from, that are age and developmentally appropriate.
