It's about creating a safe and supportive environment where the child feels valued, understood, and encouraged to explore and grow. A nanny should be adaptable, patient, and genuinely invested in the child’s well-being, balancing fun and learning with structure and care. Clear communication with parents and a collaborative approach ensure that the child’s needs are met consistently, fostering a sense of stability and harmony.

My experience with special needs includes working with children diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and ADHD. I’ve learned to approach these challenges with patience, consistency, and clear communication, focusing on creating a structured yet flexible environment. I use positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors and tailor activities to meet each child’s unique needs, ensuring they feel supported and engaged. These experiences have helped me develop a deeper understanding of how to foster trust and create a nurturing space where children can thrive.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was helping a child overcome their fear of trying something new. They were hesitant to participate in a science experiment I planned, worried they might 'mess it up.' With some gentle encouragement and breaking the activity into simple steps, they not only completed the experiment but ended up excitedly explaining the process to their parents later. Seeing their confidence grow and their excitement for learning blossom reminded me why I love this work—helping children realize their potential and watching their joy in discovering the world around them.
