Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to host art activities, explore nature, play in water activities, and teach children basic cooking and hygiene skills that go along with cooking. I love to sing, dance, read, and put on plays with children. I love any activity that I can encourage creativity and individuality!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building a trusting relationship with the child and their family is the most important thing. No one can provide quality care without the child being able to trust. A nanny or teacher must follow the child's lead, build activities around the child's interest, and get down to their level. When a caregiver is responsive to the child's needs, the relationship will flourish. When the relationship is strong, the caregiver can teach, bond, and create lasting memories for the child and their family.

I have worked with children of all needs, and have taken multiple courses to support children with different needs and abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment with a child that I will never forget is when I worked in infant-toddler class. This child (17 months) was eating his lunch and would refuse to eat unless I ate too. So I ate my lunch with him. He and I were chatting about his lunch, and he pulled his sandwich apart. I said "Now you have peanut butter all over this hand! And jelly on this hand! What are you going to do about it?" He looked at me, gave the biggest grin, and said "Emmy hug!" He stood up and was laughing so hard with his hands up in the air. I laughed and said "Are you going to get pb&j on me with a hug?" He smiled even bigger and said "Emmy hug!" Before I could react, he jumped into my arms and wrapped those sweet arms around my neck, leaving hand prints of PB&J on the back of my shirt and jelly in my hair. I wouldn't trade that moment for a lifetime of clean shirts.
