A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Erica. I don't consider myself a professional working with babies & children, but I do love them, & they seem to gravitate to me.
I consider myself a caregiver. If I'm honest my mom was diagnosed with Lupus when I was young, so I grew up with the best mother ever, but she was constantly sick. My mother died from complications of Lupus a few years ago. I cared for my mother my entire life, but as she got older the disease progressed which required survere help from me & my sister. The last 5 years I spent half of the year in Houston with my mom making sure she was okay with physical & mental therapy, ensuring the skilled nurses were performing as we expected, treateing her with care, & working to ensure she felt loved & safe. The remaining half of the year I'd be here in Austin still doing the same. If I'm completely honest I don't have children of my own, but I absolutely love kids! They're so innocent & seeing the world through their little eyes is exciting!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I wasn't a teacher or nurse, but I did have two great God children that I was able to care for at the newborn age, to toddler, to mid-adolescant age. I really enjoy kids, because they're super innocent & you'll never know how they'll surprise you. Looking through a kids eyes can be super exciting but sometimes unexpected lol.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm an adventurous person...sky diving, snorkeling, hiking, traveling, etc. I've done it, but with a child my interest is what they're into. Being outside & taking walks to soothe a baby or child is a-okay. Digging in the dirt for worms, or watching the same show over & over is acceptable. Mind you I may take a breather, but I'll definitely watch over & over again lol. I'm definitely not opposed to getting out & seeing new things. Museums (age appropriate) is always a plus!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the kids are safe! I took care of my mom while she was ill & I was extremely hesitant about just anyone caring for her. That said, I didn't want anyone around her that I didn't trust or feel comfortable with. You as a parent would be the same. I want to be as transparent as possible, make sure you have access to me at all times, be honest, available, & just be the best person not only for you, but most importantly for your children.

My experience with special needs children...

If I'm honest I personally don't have experience with special needs children. That said, I grew up having special needs adults in our home. My mother was a social worker & we had quite a few of special needs adults in our home. I understand what it's like to care for someone that requires extra assistance. What bothers me is people think that being nice to special needs people is the be all end all. It takes more than that. These people are part of our society & should be looked at no differently than anyone else!! I believe everyone deserves a chance...that's it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I kept my God daughter (Breana) for a week while her parents went on their 1st vacation since having her. She was 5 months old & I thought it'd be easy since I kept her many times before...I was so wrong!! She cried all week, never slept, didn't want to eat & was EXTREMELY moody. I actually cried from lack of sleep, but I took her to the doctor & they said she was colicky. I looked at her (she was cutest baby btw), I laughed out of exhaustion & knew we'd be OK. She was such a good baby, but she had a moment.
Me crying over & over is funny but an eye opening experience. Mom's & Dads's are sincerely over looked, & should be given much more grace & understanding!!

have nearly 5 years of experience working in childcare. From September of 2024 til January 2026 I worked as an Assistant Preschool Teacher at O2B Kids, where I supported classroom activities, help implement educational routines, and assist with the care and supervision of young children. Ashlee W. - Seeking Work in Austin

Part-Time Nanny Available in Austin, TX: Ashlee W.

Hello! ☺️ My name is Ashlee, and I recently relocated to the Austin area after spending nearly ten years working in the news industry as a reporter and anchor. Throughout my career, I’ve built strong communication skills, learned how to connect with people from all walks of life, and developed a calm, dependable personality in fast-paced environments.

As I transition into a new chapter professionally, I’m looking for more meaningful, personal work centered around helping others — especially children and families. I’ve always had a natural love for kids and genuinely enjoy creating a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for them. I’m energetic, patient, responsible, and very people-oriented.

Being new to Austin, I’m excited to become part of the community and would love the opportunity to support a wonderful family in any way I can. I’d be happy to answer any questions or chat more about my background and experience!
