A little bit about me

I've been a stay-at-home parent for far too long, now my son doesn't need me since he's already 7 and more independent than the reason for a Fourth of July party.
I'd like to think that I'm a very easy-going, open-minded, caring, young 33 y.o. Who had given up her "careers" as a progessional photographer and dental assistant when my son was born prematurely. I've been working freelance jobs off-and-on over the years but to be honest? I'm over it. I helped homeschool my son for a year and a half through the pandemic and now need to feel useful again. I love kids, animals, art, being silly and having fun, creating, gardening, cooking, DIY projects, living a simple-ish life, learning new things, having impromptu movie theater movie days, taking adventures. Being helpful/ useful, and making a difference, even if just a little.

-Children's photographer
-part time TA at a daycare/care center, --volunteer TA k-12 in the state of Maine (where I'm from)
-Mom/aunt etc.
-Dental Assistant with pediatric dentistry
-Children's art coordinator for summer camp and program
-babysat friends and family members children more times than I can remember.
-I does it count if 'm usually the one adult that all the kids kidnap as soon as I walk into a get-together or function. They just like me, most of the time. I'd like to think it's because I'm funny and not just because I fit in, but who knows?

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love encouraging kid's imagination through learning without them even knowing it. Teaching and inspiring little ones with everyday, positive, hands-on interactions and activities, projects etc. The more positive and beneficial/reliable interactions and relationships a kid can have- the better! When I was an art teacher of sorts, I loved getting kids excited and inspired by projects. It gives them a sense of accomplishment which builds confidence which to me, that was rewarding to be a part of.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Trust. So many aspects of trust. First, I need to be a trustworthy, trusted person, no one wants someone they can't trust in their home, plain and simple. You need to be able to trust me with your child, trust that your child is safe with me. You need to be able to trust that you are able to rely on me, trust that I'm doing everything I can to go above and beyond. Trust that I'm genuinely around to help and that I've got the family's back, like a friend or distant family memeber.
That's alot of trust to put into someone when you give them the chance to fulfill the role. Trust is so important and once it's absent, it's hard to regain. I pride myself in being someone who's always got people's best intentions in mind, being reliable, full of common courtesy, and just being overall helpful, I like being someone anyone can trust and being smart about it. You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar, I always say.
