A little bit about me

My name is Eva. I work in the Avenues as a part-time live-in nanny here with a family, for two toddler girls. I have absolutely loved it but the family is now intending to use my room for a third child. It's a sad goodbye on both parts. I was with them for two years. Some years ago I was also a nanny for a small Indian family in Laramie which was aso great, and we keep in touch to this day

I love foreign languages, speak German (I am from Germany), Italian, Norwegian, and a few more. It's been fun teaching the kids here some of that.
I'm generally also an artsy person, I paint and draw a lot, devour books, and often movies, too. Music makes life fun, and the best times here for me and the kids were spent dancing. They even danced to Mozart though I didn't expect that and which I had only played for them for music appreciation. When I amusedly told their parents, their father said that the girls would most likely dance to a funeral dirge :))

I taught college (foreign languages), worked for a tutoring agency for kids ages 10-18, and later worked for a mother with a toddler, and then the last two years for a family here in the Avenues with one baby and one toddler

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Drawing, painting, learning languages, dancing, going for walks to parks, running, and much more

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being fulfilled. Everything gets boring once in a while, but when you're fulfilled you can solve almost anything. I never really run out of ideas. If drawing and dancing and reading doesn't work, teaching the kids foreign languages is great. Not only do they soak it up like sponges, but that part is very interesting to me, too. I'm a linguist with degrees in languages. I am beyond fascinated by how, when, and how fast kids pick up language. I never get tired of it. My favorite age for this is 2-3 because that's when language skills explode.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The little girl I'm taking care of has very pretty long long curly hair, lots of it, but very fine. I've never seen anyone's hair tangle as easily as hers. Within a few hours it can essentially turn into dreadlocks :) it can create a lot of drama. So I created for her, and drew for her, a superhero called Tangle-ina. Since then she has largely changed her attitude towards tangles. Sometimes when she wants to reverse our roles and mother me, she lectures me and calls me Tangle-ina, brushes my hair for ten minutes to mercifully and generously relieve me of tangles, and of course ends up teasing my hair and putting knots in it instead
