My experience with special needs children...
I haven't been a full-time provider of special-needs kids, but I've volunteered with Joni and Friends for an hour a week over a semester and helped watch two autistic young men; I've grown up around people with Downs Syndrome and am generally unfazed by special-needs individuals. I may need to be shown how to love your child best, but I catch on quickly and am eager to learn!
