The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters most to me about being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive. Several key aspects are particularly important to me: Safety and Well-Being, Emotional Support, Development and Learning, Consistency and Routine, Communication and Collaboration, Encouraging Independence, Fostering Creativity and Imagination, Respect and Inclusivity.
Being a nanny is more than just a job for me; it’s a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the children and families I work with.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience caring for children with a variety of special needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Providing support with communication, social skills, and sensory integration.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Assisting with focus, organization, and managing hyperactivity.
Sensory Processing Disorder: Creating a sensory-friendly environment and activities that accommodate their sensory needs.
I approach each child with empathy and patience, focusing on their individual strengths and needs to create a positive and nurturing environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One particularly sweet and memorable moment I had with the kids was during a rainy day at the childcare center. We spread out colorful towels on the floor, put on some fun beach music, and pretended we were at the beach. The kids and I made "sandcastles" out of building blocks, had a "swimming" contest by crawling on the towels, and even had a snack time with little paper umbrellas in our drinks.
The highlight of the day was when one of the kids, a little boy who usually was pretty shy, stood up and started doing his version of a hula dance. His exaggerated moves and serious expression had everyone laughing. He then announced that he was the "King of the Beach" and everyone joined him in a dance.
Seeing the children, usually so full of energy and activity, completely immersed in our imaginary beach and laughing together was heartwarming. It reminded me how powerful a bit of creativity and fun can be in turning an ordinary day into something magical.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Norfolk, VA: Phaira J.
Hello I'm Phaira. I'm a student at Granby High and a volunteer at Nauticus! I'm super into fashion, cooking, history, and animals. After high-school school I aim to become a veterinarian but for now I'm looking into babysitting and work. I've watched a lot of children in the past including special needs children but it was previously unpaid. Especially now that I'm around children on a regular basis I find it's really the environment I thrive in. I'm a pretty energetic person and I love being able to keep up with younger kids and be someone they can have fun with while keeping things safe. I'd like to thank you for your consideration and I'm excited to see who I meet.
